    NOVEMBER

Tue. 17   Bad Timing 8th Birthday

Cambridge's longest running promoters of electronics, noise, experimental and underground music celebrate 8 years of existence with a world-class lineup of noise and improv rock from USA, Berlin and London

Hair Police + Family Battlesnake + Temperatures + Bad Timing DJs

Hair Police - (feat.  Mike Connelly of Wolf Eyes)

'HAIR POLICE work with the traditional rock trinity of guitar, bass and drums, as well as chewed electronics, reworked tape and oscillators.  The trio from Lexington, Kentucky feature Mike Connelly of Wolf Eyes and build a demonic wall of sound straddling the boundary between thrash metal and trippy industrial noise.  The band have been spewing out a huge back catalogue for legendary labels such as American Tapes, Animal Disguise, Chondritic Sound, Hanson and Connelly's own Gods of Tundra imprint and most recently released the 'Totalled and Stranded' LP on Hundebiss and 'Certainty Of Swarms' through No Fun.  Also on this trip to the UK look out for a tour only LP (limited to 100 copies!) entitled 'Stay In Bodies'.' Upset the Rhythm

Family Battlesnake - Berlin-based Bill Kouligas makes his long-overdue Cambridge debut.  Kouligas has collaborated with Chris Corsano, Damo Suzuki, Karen Constance, Sudden Infant and more, with a sound conjuring up a hazy psychedelic mayhem of mind-blowing drones from lulling numbness to fierce noise outbreaks.  Releases forthcoming on Harbinger Sound and Bo' Weavil.

Temperatures - Temperatures are a bass/voice and drums/synth duo from London formed in late 2004. Their sound is downcast and sinister with thick bass throbbing and rolling drumming and relentless vocals, building from sludgy to noisy and climactic.

'their ’familiar’ sound [is] knotted, hammered bass notes and drum clatter that breaks down after a few minutes before exploding into some terrifically noisy interplay with - it has to be said - Mark E Smith-style ranting before the yearning, thrilling conclusion.  These boys don’t give much away, with the abstract titles and imagery, so just enjoy this night bus ride through hell.  This is fantastic, abject subterranean stuff.” - Ymir LP review on Swedish Nurse blog

Fri. 27   Nekkrosis + Slay That Dog + Judgment Day + Bloodloss

Nekkrosis - Nekkrosis to be replaced due to other commitments.  Watch this space for further info.

    Slay That Dog

Judgment Day - Fast, loud and heavy best describes this four piece Thrash Metal outfit.  Regularly compared to their old school idols these guys rip up the stage with hard hitting lyrics and relentless speed.  Think Exodus, Overkill, Sepultura and Slayer all hammered together to produce an intense slaughtering machine and you have JUDGMENT DAY.  With their energetic and brutal live performance these guys are not to be missed.

Bloodloss - Brutal.  Intense.  Devastating.  They're just words at the end of the day.  Describing Surrey-based Metal group BLOODLOSS is always going to be a difficult affair.  With a stage show to more than rival their hard-hitting American counterparts, these 5 lads are tearing up the British metal scene with a ferocity that would put some of their own heroes/influences to shame.

Sat. 28   New Town Kings + Resolution 242 + Captain Black No Stars + Last Gang In Town DJ’s

New Town Kings - Back by popular demand this 9 piece bring their infectious and energetic brand of 2Tone, ska, reggae and dub back for a triumphant return to the Man on the Moon.  Since releasing their debut album “Sound Of The New Town” on Do The Dog records the band have had gig and festival crowds across the UK begging for more.  With a new studio recording in the pipeline, the future promises to be bright for the New Town Kings.

Resolution 242 - Their debut CD out on Do the Dog Records has had some great reviews and secured them airplay on Radio One’s “The Lock Up”.  Resolution 242 have shared the stage with the likes of Inner Terrestrials, King Blues and Sonic Boom Six and played the prestigious Rebellion Festival in 2009.  They sound great and they’ve got plenty say.  They don’t claim to have the answers, but aim to raise awareness about important issues that they think need attention and debate, in the only medium they can… music…so get involved and enjoy!

Captain Black No Stars - This Norfolk reggae collective have come a long way in short time, gaining fans across the region with their unique sound inspired by both the Trojan / 2Tone sounds and UK Punk rock.  They bring the early Clash forays into Jamaican music to mind but with a contemporary slant.  Catch them live on 28th November when they kick off proceedings as the first of 3 great Do The Dog bands that will have you skanking into the night and beyond!!

    Fri. 11   secondSight

secondSight - a five-piece group playing classic British progressive rock music.  Think Peter Gabriel-era Genesis, early-70s Pink Floyd and symphonic Yes.  We’re a covers band, playing a smattering of original material too, and definitely not a tribute band of lookalikes or soundalikes.

Tue. 19   Eye for an Eye

Eye for an Eye - If I could only use one word to describe local metal band Eye for an Eye, it would be 'Defiant'.  The three piece from Swindon have effortlessly blended foot-tapping anthems with easily screamable chorus lines to produce something truly masterful and wholly different to the familiar.  With shades of great 'stoner rock' bands like Kyuss and Clutch shining through, these boys take the rulebook, set it on fire and rub the ashes into their scars.  Just as well, really – these lads are going to be the torch-bearers for the new age of Swindon music.” (Review taken from Tom Humber, Swindon 105.5)

Sat. 13   Peacocks + Shakeout + Graveyard Johnnys + Last Gang In Town DJ’s

Peacocks - Legendary Swiss 3 piece The Peacocks are making a rare Cambridge appearance as part of their Spring 2010 tour.  Having toured extensively over the last 15 years, taking in Japan, Europe and the USA, The Peacocks have played with numerous bands including Bad Religion, Rancid, Voodoo Glow Skulls and The Dwarves as well as headlining a stage at the prestigious Rebellion punk festival.  With their unique Rockabilly-infused Punk Rock’n’Roll The Peacocks continue to belt out great songs and excellent live performances so don’t miss your chance….It’s Time For The Peacocks!!

Shakeout - are without a doubt the finest Psycho Rockin' outfit in East Anglia, a title they truly deserve following a lengthy career that has seen them share the stage with bands including The Meteors, Guana Batz and King Kurt.

Graveyard Johnnys - We’ve had to wait a long time since their impressive opening slot for The Quakes at the Man on the Moon back in 2008, but at last the Graveyard Johnnys are coming back to Cambridge.  Their stunning debut album has been enthusiastically received by punks, rockers and ‘billies alike and, coupled with their frenetic live shows, has earned them a great reputation.
